Hi, We were scheduled to meet a delivery at the camp on Grand Isle on Thursday, July 1st. Loaded the car with Cat's QVC boxes the evening before, so ready to scoot in the morning. However, my "loopy pill" decided to react on me, so was sick as a dog, & had to cancel. However, the truck had already left, so tried calling Cat's kids - to no avail. We found out that the truck would not get to the camp until 4pm, so decided to simply drive down, get the stuff into the camp, & drive back home the same evening. Didn't feel like driving back, so stayed the night.
Cat's son Mark & Filipino wife, arrived early the following morning, so I stayed to do whatever I could to help them set up the new OMG 73" TV OMG & the table for it. Also, lots of moving furniture around, & fixing several small items. The Filipino gal is a real worker, with loads of energy (age 36) & could think ahead. We fulfilled about 90% of the orders that came down from "The Cat."
Some personal fireworks began Wednesday, & larger displays on Thursday evening. Friday produced 3 larger shows, with the best ones scheduled for Sat. & Sun.
Very few workers on the beach, with only 14 on Friday, just standing under a large blue & white striped tent until noon. Then they all trooped past us to the west. That same afternoon, the same 14 showed up under the same tent, then trooped past us again. Never saw them work!
Weeds are growing wayyy faster than the planted sprouts on the levee. You can see that on the TV news for Grand Isle. Our camp with the blue roof, & very close to the levee, was shown today in a panning shot.
Nobody had stolen any of the 22 solar lights that we installed beside the path over the levee - so that is a wee bit amazing. We now have special 4th of July solar lights on the "Poopdeck," plus white Christmas lights strung on the railing of the steps. Several of the lights are blinking, &/or changing color. Very pretty!
The 2'-3' higher tides have shown up, even into the bayous as far as Houma, LA. As we left Houma, we could see the bayou flooding up into the yards. And yes, you can occasionally find gator's & snake's in them. On G.I., you really couldn't tell the difference between the tides. It appeared that the water's edge bumped right up against those Gulf water-filled booms. Then, there is a 3' high little wall of dirt for the full 7 miles of the island, then they have installed a new 4' high orange fence. I assume this is another sand catcher, &/or possibly oil - if that scenario "hits the fan" - so to speak.
Four noisy rug-rats arrived, plus I was having leg problems again, so I decided to return to our apt. for my special meds. & anti-biotic. "My Cat" can handle (think ignore) the noisy rug-rats for the next few days. Now I can watch the fireworks on TV, including all of the patriotic music - in peace. LOL
Instead of their great "Tarpon Rodeo," they are going to hold a fund-raising concert, to help offset the negative aspects here.
